NFL Draft pick. What\'s your new car

The 2012 NFL Draft begins on Thursday night. All of the players selected in the early rounds have at least one thing in common--their personal financial situations are about to change drastically. With all of the workouts, interviews and travel that keeps potential draft picks occupied in the weeks leading up to the draft, it\'s not hard to imagine that some genuinely important life decisions are being pushed aside. Of course, the most important decision for each of these young men is what they\'re going to drive once they become newly minted pro athletes. It\'s a lot harder to figure out than it might seem at first glance. Obviously, the car needs to be at least somewhat, impressive. James Harrison can rock a Smart Fortwo but, after winning two Super Bowls and five Pro Bowls, the former undrafted free agent can pretty much drive whatever he wants. Rookie hazing may be on the wane, but showing up to camp in a car that can be easily carried by other players is not advisable. Besides, you have to look good when you head back to East Lansing for homecoming. Speaking of hazing, we wouldn\'t recommend showing up with the hottest car in the parking lot, either. There\'s nothing wrong with showing people what all of your hard work has earned you; just getting drafted is an incredible accomplishment. But as a rookie, you have to prove your worth all over again. So, even if a Bugatti Veyron is now in your price range, a touch of deference to the veterans is probably wise. Besides, success, especially in professional sports, can be fleeting. No matter how much you\'re making, it\'s easier than you think to wake up one day and realize that you\'re broke. Oh, and one more thing to think about: Odds are better than even that these guys are more or less giants. For most of them, a Lotus Exige is not an option. But, enough of our bloviating.
