More Toyota GT 86 details

Nearly two months after revealing that its new GT 86 sports coupé will cost £24,995, Toyota has now confirmed exactly what you get for that. In standard form the 197bhp Subaru-engined car has six-speed manual transmission, 17\" alloy wheels, a limited slip differential, a three-mode stability control system, seven airbags, bi-xenon high-intensity headlights, daytime running lights, front foglights, electric folding door mirrors, black cloth upholstery, cruise control, hill start assist, dual-zone air-conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port. There\'s also a six-speed automatic version, priced at £26,495, and various extra-cost options. The most expensive is leather/alcantara upholstery with heated seats for £1600, with a choice of all-red or black-and-red colour schemes. For £750 you can also upgrade from the standard Toyota Touch system to Touch And Go, which adds satellite navigation, speed and safety camera warnings, a connection to Google Local Search and - if you pay a subscription - data services providing local information on, for example, parking, fuel prices and weather forecasts. More trivially, you can also have two sets of decals, one for the sides at £180 and another for the roof and bonnet at £200. The GT 86 has been available to order for some time now, but customer deliveries won\'t start until July 1, slightly later than first suggested. The mechanically identical Subaru BRZ will arrive shortly afterwards, and although pricing still hasn\'t yet been confirmed it will probably cost more than the Toyota at around £26,000. A special stripped-out version, for which no Toyota equivalent has been mentioned, will certainly be cheaper, though whether it will undercut the GT 86 remains to be seen.
