Ferrari World is about to get bigger as more rides are expected to be rolled out this year.
The indoor theme park in Abu Dhabi plans to launch a new rollercoaster, Flying Aces, by the end of this year, along with another ride targeted at families as part of its ongoing expansion.
By the first quarter of 2016, two more rides aimed at teenagers and adults are expected to be added, Jesse Vargas, general manager at Ferrari World, told Gulf News at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai on Tuesday.
"Our expansion plans started in 2014, so we are in the process of expanding. The intent is to provide something new for every segment of the family, for kids, teenagers and parents,” Vargas said.
Flying Aces is expected to be the world's steepest steel rollercoaster, with a starting hill inclined by 51 degrees and the world's tallest loop of 52 metres.
"We know that it will be an incredibly popular ride,” Vargas said.
He declined to say the cost of the expansion.
Starting next week, the theme park is expected to offer visitors a Ferrari driving experience.
"You can actually drive a Ferrari. This is something guests have been asking for since the day that we opened … you are allowed to take it on Yas Island out on the open road and drive it back to the park … the car accommodates four people,” Vargas said.
When asked about how much growth in footfall Ferrari World is anticipated to have by the end of the year, Vargas said: " We hope that it will increase significantly because of the rides we're adding.” He did not give a percentage of growth.
Last year, Ferarri World introduced indoor electric-powered go-karts at the Karting Academy. It also recently expanded the Junior Training Camp, which now includes new challenges, such as climbing and free-fall jumping.
