Frrari has issued a recall of a small number of 458 supercars and California convertible coupe. The problem only effects 206 cars our of a total of 13,000 built. We’re shocked that Ferrari built so many cars, and at the same time relieved that they’ve taken such attention to safety recently. The problem with the cars is found with the crankshafts that may come with an improper finish, causing the engine to vibrate and potentially damage itself. “We are writing to all clients affected now, asking them to return the car to a dealer for the work to be done,” a Ferrari spokesman stated. The most famous Ferrari recall of recent times came in 2010, when 1,258 examples of the then newly built 458 had to be recalled due to a fire risk. Fixing a Ferrari is not a simple matter of replacing old parts with new ones, and if we owned one of these affected cars in say Malaysia or China, we’d be really concerned if the local dealer opened up the engine to replace the crankshaft.
