The all-new Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup truck, which went on sale a few weeks ago, is proving a perfect fit for the lives of online learning developer Ann Lorenzo and her husband Albert in Omaha, Neb.
“[Albert] knew he liked the size of a midsize pickup,” said Lorenzo. “Imagine his excitement when he found out Chevy was bringing the new Colorado out.”
The Lorenzos, who have two dogs, Beast and Crash, have never owned a Chevrolet. They traded in a Honda Civic sedan for the Colorado. Frequent borrowers of her father’s truck, the Lorenzos decided to look into a truck to haul materials for Albert’s home projects and wood for the fireplace. They knew they needed more capability than a sedan, but didn’t need a full-sized truck.
“With the Colorado, Chevrolet offers customers more choices than any other pickup truck brand, with midsize, full-size light duty and heavy-duty pickups,” said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet Marketing. “For families like the Lorenzos, having the option to find the right-sized truck for their lifestyle is crucial.”
During test drives, Ann Lorenzo said the nicest thing about the truck is its smooth ride and car-like handling. She also liked the Colorado’s class-leading fuel economy, an EPA-estimated best-in-class 26 mpg on the highway with the V-6 engine.
The Colorado’s multiple configurations were also a big draw for the Lorenzos, as well as its connectivity options. They chose a black Colorado Z71 Crew Cab Long Box with four-wheel drive and upgraded MyLink with navigation and available Bose seven-speaker audio system.
“Having a crew cab option was very important, as we would be down a car, and since we are hoping to expand our family in the near future,” said Lorenzo. “Albert definitely enjoys the Bluetooth connection for use with Pandora. The USB connectivity for iPod and USB media storage is definitely a great feature as well.”
Probably the happiest, though are Beast and Crash, who often go for rides in the truck.
“Our dogs love it when they get to go for a ride,” Lorenzo said.
The Colorado joins the Silverado in Chevrolet’s complete line of mid-size, full-size and heavy-duty pickup trucks. More than 97,000 Silverados were sold during September and October. The Silverado is the North American Truck of the Year and the most awarded truck in 2014.
