Algeria imported 418,665 vehicles in the first nine months of 2012 against 298,816 vehicles during the same period in 2011, an increase of 40.1%, Algerian customs indicated Monday. Import bill of vehicles has also increased 37.77%, from DZD 266.9 billion in the first nine months of 2011 to 367,700,000,000 dinars (nearly $ 5 billion) for the same period this says the National Center for Informatics and Statistics of Customs (CNIS). Forty dealers present on the Algerian market imported 397,434 vehicles in the first nine months of 2012, against 280,672 vehicles, up 41.6%, said the center. In value terms, dealers’ imports totaled DZD340.03 billion, against DZD242.96 billion during the period. The number of vehicles imported by individuals also increased by 17%, from 18,144 to 21,231 vehicles, says the Centre. The value has also changed from DZD23.94 billion to DZD27.70 billion, up 39.9%, says the center of Customs.
