Sudan has been elected to preside over the 27th United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), which is scheduled to run until 2015 and will address global climate issues. The vote result was announced on Monday at the programme's general meeting in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi. Sudan's Ambassador in Nairobi revealed the UNEP assembly was attended by over 100 environment ministers from across the world. Only the United States and Canada did not vote at the plenary meeting, the ambassador said, adding that the poll was otherwise unanimous.
