Record hot weather was observed Latvia during the first ten days of August, the LETA news agency reported Monday, quoting meteorology authorities.
Temperatures during the first ten days this month are around 4.9 degrees Celsius higher than the same period of the past years, the report said.
The highest temperatures registered on Aug. 3-5 surpassed the average by 7-9 degrees Celsius, while in some regions even by 10-11 degrees, setting a record high of 37.8 degrees Celsius in Ventspils.
Temperature at nights during this period exceeded 20 degrees Celsius.
However, rainfall amount during the period was below the average by 66 percent.
