The UAE Embassy in Berlin held a reception to promote the Zayed Future Energy Prize, and to award the 2013 and 2014 winners, Siemens, the global technology powerhouse, and Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, the largest solar energy research institute in Europe.
In his welcome speech, the UAE Ambassador to Germany, Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, highlighted the UAE's contribution in the field of renewable energy and sustainable development.
He pointed out that the Zayed Future Energy Prize was established under the directives of the wise leadership inspired by the vision of the late founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who laid the foundations for sustainable development, and added that it is the highest international award in renewable energy and sustainability sector.
The ambassador also praised the strong bilateral relations between the UAE and Germany, which are reflected in the field of renewable energy and the joint efforts in support of the work of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
