The Company of power and gas engineering (CEEG)’s bids opening commission assigned provisionally the construction, by 2017, of 6 new power plants of capacity of 1,200 to 1,600 megawatts (MW), Sonelgaz said Friday in a release. \"Sonelgaz awarded publicly and provisionally markets to candidates with the lowest price of the kilowatt/hour (kWh),\" according to the terms of the statement which does not specify the identity or the nationality of the winning bidders. The results of the evaluation of technical and financial bids will be published shortly, the same source added. The opening session of the technical and financial bids for the construction of these future plants was held Thursday in Algiers and ended late in the evening. The 6 plants will be based in the provinces of Khenchela, Biskra, Jijel Djelfa, Nâama and Mostaganem. They account for a total capacity of some 8,400 MW.
