Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi SCAD) is participating in the exhibition accompanying the 7th edition of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), scheduled for 20-22 January at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibitions Centre. The exhibition is organized by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company "Masdar" at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibitions Centre. SCAD is keen to apprise the emirate's guests with information on Abu Dhabi's successes in areas of relevance to the summit's themes, such as Abu Dhabi's efforts to rationalize energy consumption and realize sustainable development through reliance on renewable and alternative energy source and the favourable impact of this on the health and safety standards provided to the emirate's residents in furtherance of the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030. Through its stand at the exhibition SCAD will distribute 3 booklets to the visitors dealing with the emirate's statistics of energy, water, environment and agriculture. Monitors will also be available to view the electronic versions of the Centre's publications, in line SCAD's environmental initiative "Paperless Centre". Reviews will be given by SCAD's staff on the Centre's statistical publications, especially those related to energy and the environment, including SCAD's Annual Bulletins of Environmental and Energy Statistics, Wastes, Climate and Air Statistics, Agricultural Statistics, Environmental Statistics and Biodiversity. SCAD's Environment and Energy Statistics bulletin presents a wide range of statistics on the activities of water and electricity and oil and natural gas in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, along with the latest statistics on air polluting emissions such as sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds and carbon dioxide, in addition to occupational health and safety statistics in both activities. SCAD indicated that all of the Centre's publications can also be accessed and downloaded through SCAD's website, www.scad.ae. As 2012 figures indicate, total electrical power generation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in was about 50,381 gigawatt/hours, while consumption was 47,117 gigawatt/hours. On the other hand total consumption of desalinated water in the emirate amounted to 1,059.2 million cubic meters. The emirate's total production of crude oil in 2012 was 948,200 thousand barrels, of which approximately 92.1% was exported. SCAD added that some of the data will also be displayed to visitors and guests of the exhibition through smart phone apps, in order to meet the diverse needs of the event gusts and the media. SCAD welcomes the WFES as an opportunity to forge stronger ties with its strategic partners and build new relations with the participants and visitors of the exhibition, hoping that this would help to broaden the range of the data supplied to the Centre, to better serve data users and maximize the usefulness of its outputs, in line with the Centre's initiative for raising statistical awareness through promoting statistical culture and highlighting the importance of statistics statistical data for development strategies in all sectors, to refresh the message give throughout the past year as part of SCAD's activities marking the "International Year of Statistics - 2013". SCAD has taken part in the exhibition accompanying the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) since its inaugural session in 2008. The WFES has evolved as the world's foremost platform in the areas of renewable energy and environment industry, bringing together world leaders, international policy makers, industry leaders, investors, experts, academia, intellectuals and journalists to find practical and sustainable solutions for today's energy security and climate change challenges. This has made Abu Dhabi a world class center for events centering on renewable energy, reflecting the emirate's efforts towards obtaining concrete results that would contribute towards meeting the challenges confronted by today's world in the development of renewable energy. SCAD's participation in last year's edition was held in high regard by all participants, who hailed the wide range of related publications the Centre displayed at its stand.
