Gazprom, Russia's natural gas
Moscow - MENA

Russian gas giant Gazprom said Saturday it would deliver to Turkey an additional 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year as soon as the Turkish Stream pipeline is up and running, Sputnik News Agency reported.
"The design of the project will take into account Turkey's rising demands for natural gas deliveries to the Istanbul region, therefore the volume of gas to be pumped to the gas hub on Turkish-Greek border has been reset to 47 billion cubic meters," the statement said, adding the first leg of the pipeline is scheduled to be built by late 2016.
Gazprom announced its decision to build an alternative pipeline to Turkey – dubbed Turkish Stream – after Russia scrapped in December its South Stream gas pipeline project citing European Union's opposition.
The increase in Turkey-bound gas was agreed on during Saturday's meeting between Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz.
It was announced that the pipeline will make a landfall near a deserted village of Kayakoy in southeastern Turkey. Gas supplies for Turkey will be unloaded near the town of Luleburgaz on the European side of the country. The length of the pipeline will be 180 kilometers.
