A fire that broke out at an oil pipeline near the village of Buri on Friday night was swiftly contained by the emergency services, the Ministry of Interior said.
Coordination between the General Directorate of Civil Defence and the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) stopped the flow of oil through the affected pipeline immediately following notification of the incident.
In parallel with the action to contain the outbreak, Civil Defence initiated the established evacuation and shelter plan for residents in the affected area and closed the Wali Al Ahad Highway towards Hamad Town, redirecting traffic to alternative routes.
Bapco has confirmed that the incident was isolated.
In co-operation with the Ministry of Interior, a full investigation into the cause of the incident has been launched.
