Wind Energy Society called Saturday on the government to establish a new ministry for the renewable energy.
The call was made by Head of the society Galal Othman on the sidelines of the first Cairo Energy, Oil and Gas International Conference and Exhibition held on Saturday.
Othman cited Germany as an example as plans was announced by Berlin to produce 23,000 mega watts in 2020 from the renewable energy sources.
Separate establishments of small-output plants will not help in solving the crisis, he said.
"We are in dire need for building plants that produce 20 gigawatts," he said.
German government encouraged investment in renewable energy and announced that privileges will not be granted to who establishes plant producing less than 10 megawatts from October 2012 upwards, he said.
Also, he called for stretching civilization horizontally outside the Nile valley to the vast deserts through new projects.
