The ministerial economic committee agreed that the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company continue contract talks with Energya Power Cables, Egyptec for Cables and Networks and the Egyptian Chinese Company For Ultra High Voltage Networks for the supply and installation of ground and optical fiber cables.
EETC can also resume contract procedures with El Sewedy Electric Company to carry out 500-KV lines at a length of 358 meters, the committee said.
The measures are part of a government emergency plan to support the national power grid ahead of the summer of 2016.
The meeting was attended by the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt and the ministers of planning, supply, electricity, agriculture, international cooperation, petroleum, trade, finance, tourism and investment.
