Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) said on Thursday that overfueling of car tanks would not cause an explosion in hot weather, as claimed on social networks.
Fuel in the car tank does not reach a flaming point despite the outside heat, Eng. Khalid Al-Asousi told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Thursday.
Tanks are provided with a safety system, he said, adding that there are no records of any accidents of that kind.
Al-Asousi called on people to avoid such non-scientifically proven information, and advised them to ask experts in the field to provide them with the right information.
