The Italian government has lowered its ambitions for reducing national energy costs and increasing the impact of renewable energy on energy consumption. A new draft of the \"National Energy Strategy\", made public Friday, aims to slash Italy\'s energy bill by 14 billion euros, rather than 15 billion euros previously planned. The document sets a goal of seeing 20% of its energy come from renewable sources, as opposed to 23% in a previous draft. Italy aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 19% by 2020 compared to 2005 levels, and to cut petrol imports by eight billion euros. Italy also wants to stimulate 180 billion euros worth of investment in the sector by 2020.
