he United States is expected to be among the biggest exporters of natural gas in the world, U.S.Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz said Wednesday.
"Over last decade, U.S. gas production is up very considerably. Natural gas has the largest share in electricity production in this country," Moniz told the IHS CERAWeek energy conference held in Houston.
U.S. energy company Cheniere Energy Partners L.P. announced on Wednesday that its first international shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in decades had left the United States for Brazil.
"This is a major milestone," said Moniz. "We expect to see the United States to be a major LNG exporter in next years."
The IHS CERAWeek is recognized as a major forum on future energy development.
