An Egyptian-Russian forum was launched Monday in Cairo to discuss peaceful applications of nuclear science.
As many as 32 Russian scientists are taking part in the forum, organized by Egypt's Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.
Chief of the Academy Mahmoud Sakr said that the forum aims to evaluate the performance and determine the strengths and weak points for Egyptian researchers.
He added that 25 Egyptian researchers receive training in Russia annually in the field of nuclear science.
Egypt takes serious steps to increase the electrical output of nuclear power, he said.
For his part, the deputy head of the Russian Academy of Sciences said that the Russian scientists visit Egypt to discuss joint research cooperation over the next five years.
We aim to develop the Egyptian researchers' capabilities in the fields of energy, nuclear physics and applied sciences.
