The discovery of a natural gas field off the Egyptian coasts will change the status of energy in Egypt, the Free Egyptians Party said on Monday.
"The discovery is expected to secure the supply of natural gas to the electricity sector in Egypt and encourage the building of new power plants fueled by the natural gas," the party added.
Head of the party's energy committee Maher Aziz called for diversifying the sources of energy in the various usage sectors.
The Italian energy company Eni announced Sunday the discovery of the largest natural gas field off Egypt in Shorouk block
