Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will host a Youth Circle session early next week.
Shamma bint Sohail Faris AlMazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, will attend the session whose theme is ‘Youth and Sustainability’. The session is one of the Youth Circles initiative launched by the Minister of Youth Affairs and approved by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
They provide a platform to discuss the best practices and the most important topics related to the youth and their aspirations, and come up with practical solutions and innovative ideas to the challenges they face. Hosting the Youth Circle supports DEWA’s strategy to involve Emirati young people in the sustainable development.
AlMazrui praised DEWA’s positive approach towards hosting the Youth Circle, which reflects its great interest in supporting young people, and its commitment to sharing their ideas and views for the sustainable development.
She also commended the response by other government organisations that announced their readiness to organise and host Youth Circles, to include the largest number of young people. She emphasised that this reflects the importance of the initiative, contributes to achieving its goals, and enriches it, in line with the Emirates Youth Council’s strategy to reach out to all young people across the UAE, and listen to them.
"The youth are the future, and listening to their views, ideas, and suggestions is futuristic thinking. Youth Circles reflect the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to guide and employ young people’s capabilities and potential, to reach a future government, which depends on innovation and knowledge as bases for global leadership," said AlMazrui.
AlMazrui emphasised that Youth Circles are open platforms for communication, exchanging opinions, and suggesting solutions for challenges faced by the youth. They enable young people to voice their innovative ideas and aspirations for the future. Youth Circles are key tools to prepare the youth for success and to understand their needs. They also act as an indicator to identify future approaches towards achieving the happiness and wellbeing of Emiratis.
"We are pleased to be the first government organisation to host the Youth Circles, one of the initiatives approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as part of the Action Plan of the Minister of State for Youth Affairs. The initiative supports the vision of His Highness to involve the youth in the development process, and his directives to promote communication with Emirati youth to learn their ideas and views. This will help us provide a better incubator environment to realise their dreams and aspirations, and enable them to play a key role in the UAE development," said Al Tayer.
"Organising the Youth Circle under the theme ‘Youth and Sustainability’ underlines our vision that young people are the driving force for a brighter future. Today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders and the cornerstone of the sustainable development. DEWA strives to actively participate in initiatives involving the youth inside and outside of DEWA. This supports our efforts to achieve the Dubai Plan 2021 for Dubai to be a city of happy, creative, and empowered people, DEWA’s vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, and our efforts to engage young people in the sustainable development of Dubai. This is achieved by empowering them and encouraging them to contribute to the growth and prosperity of Dubai, and the UAE as a whole," added Al Tayer.
