Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has welcomed Abdulla Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Wholesale City.
The visit comes as part of DEWA’s efforts to enhance cooperation and strategic partnerships with different government organisations in the UAE and Dubai, to improve different aspects of government work and enhance services.
They discussed cooperation, and objectives in relation to the Dubai Wholesale City project, which was launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to be the largest international wholesale hub, to support prosperity and efforts to diversify Dubai’s economy.
"DEWA’s support for distributors in Dubai, and DEWA’s commitment to taking all necessary measures to ensure the success of the Emirate. Dubai Wholesale City will span over 550 million square feet, making Dubai an international hub for wholesale, and enhancing the UAE’s position as a major market for global trade.''Al Tayer said.
Al Tayer also noted that DEWA develops strategic partnerships to support the Dubai Plan 2021, to meet the highest criteria of excellence in all electricity and water services for partners, customers, and supports sustainable development in the UAE, achieving economic aspirations, and meeting the needs of generations to come.
Belhoul highlighted the strategic plan for Dubai Wholesale City, and discussed its efforts to become the largest international wholesale hub, to enhance the UAE’s wholesale capabilities and electronic trade platform in the global market.
"These discussions support our ongoing efforts to coordinate with all stakeholders from government and non-government organisations, and launch important projects based on strong pillars, to meet the needs of our partners. This will contribute to achieving the vision of Dubai Wholesale City. We greatly appreciate DEWA’s efforts to provide a perfect working environment for companies, and businesses in Dubai. DEWA plays an important role in achieving the success of Dubai Wholesale City. We are grateful for the interest shown by DEWA’s officials during our meeting, and look forward to further cooperation," said Belhoul.
Dubai Wholesale City aims to meet all the requirements of the wholesale sector, locally and internationally, based on a modern and innovative vision.
The city will feature specialised integrated trading parks, and an international trade exhibition facility, in addition to Country Pavilions that will include commercial centres and malls, offering products from different countries, and ongoing exhibitions for international trade. The city makes use of an integrated modern system that supports the wholesale sector, and provides its services based on the best international standards, to become a global platform for wholesale, and a link between international trade markets.
