China's Trina Solar Energy Company Ltd. has allocated $200 million to invest in the renewable energy sector in Jordan. Trina Executive Director indicated during a meeting with Jordan Investment Board (JIB) Acting Chief Executive Officer Awni Rushoud yesterday that the company will start implementing a solar energy project in Jordan once it obtains the necessary approvals from the concerned agencies. He said that Trina Solar is planning to expand outside China, particularly in Jordan to set up solar power projects. For his part, JIB officer said that his country welcomes the investment in this vital sector, especially in light of the heavy reliance on imported energy from abroad and the rising cost, which negatively reflected on the increase in fiscal deficit in the annual state budget. The official reviewed the investment opportunities in Jordan and the incentives, facilities and exemptions that are available to investors, particularly in the energy and renewable energy sector, such as the renewable energy law, regulations and instructions governing the investment in this sector.
