Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza has received a delegation from the Italian Energie Locali company, led by its Board of Directors' Chairman Luigi Massetti, who was accompanied by a number of officials and the Board Chairman of the Tricom Group Tariq Wafa.
Dr. Mirza discussed with the Italian delegation areas of cooperation in the fields of electricity and water, especially regarding the participation of Italian companies in projects to develop the electricity transmission and distribution networks, as well as in renewable energy projects using the Italian technology in solar and wind energy and smart networks in roads' lighting.
Officials of the Italian company proposed the possibility of establishing a pilot project funded by the company using modern systems for street lighting.
They also pledged to open an office in Bahrain to be the centre of the company's operations in the GCC countries.
Dr. Mirza welcomed all steps to consolidate relations between the electricity and water sector in the kingdom with specialised Italian companies, affirmed the government's support for such cooperation, in light of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's recent visit to Italy.
