Assistant of the President of the Republic, Dr. Jalal Yousif Al-Degair, has given a directive to the Ministry of Oil, to work for increasing the oil production and maintain stability of the supply of petroleum and its derivatives.
This came when he received Thursday in his office at the Republican Palace the Minister of Oil, Engineer Makkawi Mohamed Awad.
The meeting reviewed the performance of the Ministry of Oil and provision of fuel for the agricultural season, besides the recent Sudan ownership to the oil pipeline which extends from Hejlej to Port-Sudan harbor.
The Minister of Oil said that his ministry focused this year on new oil discoveries, indicating that Sefian oil field is due to begin production in the current year.
He said that several oil companies have expressed desire to invest in Sudan, adding that the coming stage would witness signing of contracts with a number of petroleum companies to operate at new oil blocks.
