The Petroleum Ministry pumped additional amounts of butane gas into the local market to overcome shortages, ministry spokesman Hamdy Abdel Aziz said Tuesday.
A 103% additional amounts pumped into the market with nearly 1.2 million cylinders every day, Abdel Aziz added.
Imported butane began to arrive at Alexandria Port as of February 28, he said, the total imported shipments would hit 22,000 tons, Abdel Aziz added.
Egypt currently imports 50% of its butane gas needs.
