The UAE Ambassador to Armenia, Dr. Jassim Mohammed Mubarak Al Qasimi, attended the Solar Energy Investment Conference in Yerevan on Wednesday.
The event was also attended by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, a number of ministers, ambassadors, Armenian and foreign experts, as well as representatives of more than 30 companies from different countries, looking for opportunities to construct solar energy plants in Armenia.
The conference discussed current developments in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable resources in Armenia, the existing problems, investment opportunities, potential funding sources, technological and design solutions and prospective projects.
Speaking at the conference, Sargsyan said the energy system, as an important area of the Armenian economy, has in recent years scored substantial achievements. The high-voltage sub-stations of structural importance, in particular, have been almost totally renovated with the assistance of international financial institutions.
He also hailed the fruitful co-operation between Armenia and its neighbours in this field.
