An oil spill was reported in Ras Gharab area and efforts are underway to clean it up, the Environment Ministry said Sunday evening.
Minister Khaled fahmi issued immediate directives to take all measures to remove the oil spill as quickly as possible.
The spill, covering an area of 3 to 4 kilometers, is limited to the shore in Dai el Amer beach and there are no signs for contamination in the sea.
Samples were taken from the oil spill to identify its source and take necessary legal action against whoever is responsible.
