A Humpback whale washed ashore on Lords Point Monday morning in Stonington, Conn., officials said. Mystic Aquarium and Coast Guard rescue crews were sent to the scene around 9 a.m., WTIC-TV, Hartford, Conn., reported. Erin Merz, spokeswoman for Mystic Aquarium, said the whale is alive and should be fine where it is positioned right now, but it will not be going anywhere until it is physically removed. Rescuers will assess the size of the whale before making a rescue attempt, Merz said.
