The Environment Ministry is currently working on a project to protect migratory birds against potential risks. Osama el-Gabaly, head of the project, said Wednesday Egypt is one major stop for migratory birds which travel in the spring and autumn from Europe and Asia to Africa, where the weather is warmer. Implemented in cooperation with the UN, the Migratory Soaring Birds project aims to integrate conservation management objectives into targeted public and private sectors in 11 countries along the Rift Valley / Red Sea flyway. Gebaly said his Ministry acts to lift solid waste that attract many birds coming to Egypt. It also works on protecting important spots of birds, he added.
