A heavy snowstorm hit Jordan overnight and blanketed most parts of the Kingdom with forecasts of further snowfall in the next few hours.
The polar air mass is forecast to bring more snow to regions 600 meters above sea level and heavy downpour in other areas but will start to taper off by midnight, the Jordan Meteorological Department said.
Snowfall will start to recede in the central and northern region but will continue in the southern region. The Public Security Department said most main roads and highways are opened or being opened now while most of internal roads remain closed. Work underway to ensure all roads are opened.
There were no reports of major accidents during the blizzard which will bring temperatures to below the freezing point during the night and early morning in most parts of the Kingdom over the coming next two days.
