Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on Sunday inaugurated a project for water system in Palestinian villages surrounding the northern West Bank city of Nablus.
"The water project for the villages around Nablus city is so essential as it will supply water for the largest Palestinian communities in the area," Hamdallah said in a press statement sent to Xinhua.
He added that Israel and all its settlements are enjoying enough quantities of water at the expense of each Palestinian individual's share of water in the West Bank.
Water resources for the West Bank and Israel come from the Jordan River, for some areas in the West Bank, mainly in the north, while underground water is the source of water in central and southern West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Hamdallah said the Gaza Strip suffers from a severe water crisis, adding that 97 percent of the coastal enclave's water is salty and polluted.
The Palestinian premier said the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) is exerting efforts to gain international support to put an end to the Israeli policies of using the Palestinian natural resources.
