The Ministry of Energy launched has an innovation award in Energy & Water (EWX2071), a unique innovation programme to embrace disruptive innovations with focus on the two vital resources.
This programme aims to accelerate the development of the disruptive innovative ideas and prototypes that will significantly contribute to the achievement of the energy and water targets and provide multiple times the value of the existing practices. These disruptive innovations are focused on the most pressing challenges in the field of energy and water.
In 2017, the Ministry unveiled two critical pillars: the UAE Energy Plan 2050 and the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036 with ambitious targets to achieve security of supply, access of Electricity & water , prosperity , Happiness and sustainability.
During the course of the programme, participants will split into working groups to work on one of the challenges. With the assistance of the coaching team, the groups shall propose innovative, scalable and cost- effective solutions to one of the following challenges: 1. Contribute to reduce average consumption of water per capita by half by 2036.
2. Enhance Water- Energy Nexus across different sectors in UAE.
3. Enhance water efficiency in Agriculture across UAE.
4. Develop sustainable energy solutions enabled by clean energy in Transport.
5. Significantly boost water and energy efficiency across industries in UAE.
Registration for the award is open from 20th November 2017 up to February 2018. Award winning ceremony will be held during the Innovation Week in February 2018.
