General Electric (GE) Company in Northeast Africa has finalized in a "record time" the construction of power stations in 14 locations across Egypt.
The company built the power stations in line with the Electricity Ministry emergency plan launched eight months ago, the company's commercial head Ahmed Galal said Thursday during a tour with journalists at Hurghada power station.
Galal said the company is committed to adding 2.6 gigawatt of power to the nation’s grid through installing 46 advanced gas turbines, thus upping the number of GE turbines in Egypt to 130.
GE turbines generate about 30 percent of Egypt’s power, he said.
GE projects have contributed to avoiding power outage, especially in rush hours during the summer.
GE has been a committed partner to Egypt for over 40 years; working closely with the private and public sectors across industries to solve some of the toughest challenges in the country.
