Egypt's Agriculture Minister Adel el-Beltagy left here on Thursday en route to Cairo after participating in the two-day meetings of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD).
The meeting focused on achieving food security in Arab countries, Beltagy told MENA.
He pointed out that Arab countries are exporting 66 million tons of grains although they can produce most of them through modern farming technology.
Meanwhile, Beltagy pointed out that an agreement was signed during the meetings in which AFESD, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Islamic Bank and OPEC will contribute to supporting food security in the Arab countries.
The agriculture ministers of Egypt, Yemen, Sudan, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon and Morocco as well as heads of research centers in these countries have participated in the AFESD meetings.
