An Egyptian delegation, headed by Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Hossam Moghazy, will leave here Saturday heading to Khartoum to take part in the Nile Basin Initiative’s (NBI) conference for the first time after five years of absence.
The participation shows a shift in Cairo's strategic view towards Africa, Moghazy said.
Moghazy highlighted keenness to play an effective role in the meeting to reach an inclusive mechanism for cooperation.
Cairo's vision on the conference includes sustainable development of the member-states' water resources and enhancement of inter-economic and political relations, the minister said.
This year’s Nile Council of Ministers’ (Nile-COM) one-day conference is an attempt to find new mechanisms for joint projects and to rebuild trust among Nile Basin states, Sudan's Minister of Water Resources and Electricity Moataz Moussa said.
