Egypt launched an
initiative for Eastern Nile Basin countries on implementing power linkage projects.
The initiative calls for Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to sign long-term agreements to buy and exchange energy under the umbrella of a strong regional cooperation.
This came in a speech delivered by Egypt's Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hossam Moghazi in the opening of the Meetings of the Egyptian-Sudanese Joint Technical Commission for Nile Waters, which started Sunday.
Moghazi, meanwhile, said that the viewpoints between the Egyptian and Sudanese sides in dealing with the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam file are identical.
Egypt's policy in this new stage is keen on establishing more closer ties with Sudan, he added.
Ties between Egypt and Sudan are everlasting, he went on to say.
