Burj Khalifa
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

The tallest tower in the world, the iconic Burj Khalifa, has been added to the portfolio of acclaimed clients being serviced by Bee'ah, the Middle East's leading award-winning fully integrated environment and waste management company. A highly competitive tendering process saw Bee'ah awarded a five-year contract to introduce recycling logistics, create sustainability awareness amongst the tenants and residents, and to provide integrated waste management services to the prestigious landmark building, leading to a more sustainable platform for the upcoming World Expo 2020 in Dubai.

This achievement is the crown jewel of multiple Dubai-based contracts Bee'ah has landed in recent months, including TECOM (Media City, Knowledge Village, TECOM, Academic City, Internet City) and other select areas and entities.

Khaled Al Huraimel, Group Chief Executive Officer at Bee'ah, commented on the agreement, saying, "Bee'ah is delighted to win the Burj Khalifa contract and we look forward to fulfilling the environmental requirements of the world's most iconic building." He continued, "Our long and proud commitment to the community has resulted in our geographic expansion within the UAE. The Burj Khalifa represents a significant step forward in the company's vision as we expand further into Dubai and seek to strengthen our position as environmental leaders in the Middle East." Mr Huraimel spoke further about the challenges Burj Khalifa represents, noting that the structure represents one of the most sophisticated logistical systems in Bee'ah's portfolio given that it has over 160 stories, 900 residences and 37 office floors.

Bee'ah offers innovative methods for collection, transportation, treatment and recycling of the monthly waste produced by the mega structure, which will all be processed at Bee'ah's dedicated Waste Management Centre. Waste management policy developed specifically for Burj Khalifa will include community awareness campaigns to encourage pro-environmental behaviour among the more than 12,000 people who occupy the building – a task Khaled Al Huraimel confidently asserts Bee'ah is ready to accomplish.

As part of the tendering system, Bee'ah was competing against other leading companies in the region, but due to their advanced technologies, pioneering systems, and world-class infrastructure, the Sharjah based Environment Company won the contract. Bee'ah now manages more than 65 contracts in Dubai, all of which benefit from a comprehensive waste management systems transferring waste away from landfill and sending it towards recycle facilities, thus creating a cleaner future.
