The Ministry of Environment and Water has completed building of eight water dams in the emirate of Fujairah as part of the Follow-up Committee of UAE President's Initiatives.
Sultan Alwan, Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Water Resources and Nature Conservation, said these dams and flood-protection barriers, which were completed last month on Sakamkam Basin, would have storage capacity of around 700,000 cubic metres of water (154 million gallons) which before found their to the sea.
These water projects, he added, were implemented as part of the National Strategy for Water Resources Management and Sustainability.
