Three stone crushers at a Fujairah quarry found violating environmental requirements and regulations have been closed down for seven days. The Ministry of Environment and Water issued the closure order after it was found the crushers were violating regulations regarding excessive emission of dust. Sultan Alwan, an assistant undersecretary at the ministry, said a fourth stone crusher was also issued a warning for a minor environment-related violation. He said if the three crushers did not rectify their status and abide by the environmental requirements and regulations issued by the ministry under the Ministerial Decree Number 110 for the year 2010 regarding work at quarries, they will be closed down for three or more months in coordination with local authorities.
