Swiss International Air Lines will be turning one of its planes into a pop-up restaurant, treating passengers to an in-flight dining experience prepared by a triple Michelin-starred chef.
For all passengers -- economy cabin included -- traveling between Zurich and New York on November 21, chef Andreas Caminada of Schauenstein Schloss will be hosting a one-off pop-up event that will bring his Michelin-starred cuisine to the skies.
Set inside a historic castle in the bucolic Swiss valley of Domleschg 90 minutes outside Zurich, Schauenstein Schloss holds three Michelin stars and also made Restaurant magazine’s list of World’s 50 Best Restaurants this year.
Meals will also be paired with a selection of wines selected by Caminada.
“The idea of a pop-up restaurant came out of my curiosity. I’m always keen to take new paths. And this whole project will be a real experience for me and my team, and one whose results I am very eager to see,” said the chef in a statement.
It’s a common strategy for airlines to recruit top chefs as culinary advisors. Air France, British Airways and Qantas have enlisted chefs like Joel Robuchon, Heston Blumenthal and Neil Perry to help develop their in-flight menus.
