Far East Hospitality will open a new hotel in Singapore every month for the next three months, the company’s CEO has revealed. Addressing media at ITB Asia on Thursday, Arthur Kiong (pictured) said the expansion would commence in November 2013, with the opening of the Village Hotel Katong – a new 229-room Peranakan-styled hotel in Singapore’s East Coast area. This will be followed in December by the launch of Amoy – a converted row of shophouses in the city’s central business district. The 37-room hotel will be located in Far East Square, a conservation heritage area, and guests will enter through a museum. And finally in January next year, Far East will relaunch the 298-room Rendezvous Singapore, following its renovation and rebranding. Far East recently completed the acquisition of a 50% stake in Australia’s Toga Hotels, which operates the Adina, Medina, Vibe and Travelodge brands. This has effectively boosted Far East’s portfolio from 18 hotels to 80. And Kiong said he was now planning further expansion of the company’s nine hotel brands in the Asia Pacific region, including Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. Source: Travel Daily
