One of the leading newspapers of Kenya, “The Star,” has come out with nothing less than praise for the Carnaval International de Victoria, the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Carnival hosted this year by Seychelles and La Reunion Islands. James Murua, the known journalist of “The Star,” wrote the title of the article as “Seychelles Explodes in Carnival Spectacle.” “Last weekend saw one of the biggest carnivals on the planet as the Seychelles hosted the second edition of the Seychelles International Carnival in the capital, Victoria. The carnival started with an opening reception at the Kempinksi Seychelles Resort on Thursday. Among the guests were the new Kenya Tourism Board Chairman, Kitili Mbathi, and his wife Brenda, Seychelles Tourism Ambassador to Kenya, Popsy Getonga, and German Ambassador to Kenya, Margit Hellwig-Boette. The German diplomat had been in the region to assist her countrymen and women whose luxury cruise ship had been cast away for days in the Indian Ocean. They were all hosted by the Seychelles Tourism Board CEO Alain St. Ange. “The main festival held on Saturday saw crowds in the tens of thousands, led by the Seychelles and Reunion Presidents James Michel and Didier Robert, enjoy as entertainers on floats from as far west as Trinidad&Tobago, Brazil, China, and Indonesia. “The African continent had official delegations from South Africa, Zimbabwe,” wrote James Murua of “The Star” Newspaper.
