Although Machu Picchu adventures offer sights that only Peru can provide, the country\'s varied landscape warrants a visit to the enchanting ecosystems of Manu Biosphere Reserve. From cloud forests to rainforest to lowland jungle, hikes through the reserve allow adventurers to see some of the largest diversity in all of South America. More than 5,000 species of flowering plants are found here and provide any number of enchanting plants to look at. More than 1,200 species of butterflies found here make walks even more colorful. As one of the world\'s largest parks, hikers will have days of places to explore. Given its remote location, guests will find Manu\'s wilderness truly feels away from it all. Travelers can easily be transported into this landscape. Due to the location, however, travel can be difficult, so guests should plan to stay at least a week in the area. A highlight of Manu\'s wildlife is the giant otters who live at Cocha Otorongo, a lake found amid a particularly fertile area of the park. A very rare species, the otters are only viewable from a floating platform that has been designed to keep the otters safe and stress-free.
