Lupita Nyong’o New York - Arab Today This year's Costume Institute Gala, also known as the Met Ball, takes place this Monday. What can we expect? The theme The theme, set each year by the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute (set to be reopened on May 8 as the Anna Wintour Costume Center), is designed to honor Anglo-American couturier Charles James (1906-1978) who is the focus of this summer's retrospective. The dress code that ties in with the exhibition is "White Tie and Decorations." Previous years have seen "Punk," "Anglomania," and "Jacqueline Kennedy" used as the jumping-off point for fashion's snappiest dressers. Designer pairings As usual, it's the designers who are the key guests, with their celebrity dates invited along as arm-candy, dressed up in their hosts' lines. Reports indicate that woman of the hour Lupita Nyong'o will wear Prada, Prabal Gurung will dress Zoe Saldana, Amanda Seyfried will appear in Givenchy, and Taylor Swift in J. Mendel. Lanvin is keeping its mystery guest a surprise. Music It wouldn't be the Met Ball without a big musical star, and it will be Frank Ocean in the hot seat this year, taking over duties from last year's entertainment Kanye West. Ocean bagged Grammy and Brit awards last year for his debut album "Channel Orange" and is set to emerge from the studio, where he's currently recording its follow-up especially for the event.
