A weather warning against fog and poor visibility over most part the UAE has been issued by the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology.
NCMS said in a statement that visibility would decrease to less than 1000 metres because of dense fog on roads between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah.
Dubai Police issued a warning to motorists, urging them to drive with caution.
Dubai Police tweeted: "Foggy on Emirates Road after Al Qudra bridge and on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road after Global Village, towards Abu Dhabi. Be extra cautious."
It further added:
In the capital, a broken-down car caused congestion Sheikh Zayed Street before Al Falah Street Outbound towards Abu Dhabi. The Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport reported the incident on Twitter at 7.20am. The incident caused traffic delays along the street and was cleared by 7.51am.
Heavy congestion was reported on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from Sharjah towards Dubai. Also tailbacks were reported from the National Paints roundabout in Sharjah towards Dubai.
An accident has been reported near Al Mulla Plaza towards Dubai, according to Google Map data.
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes wherever possible.
