A hot air mass accompanied by a seasonal Indian depression is expected to start affecting the Kingdom during Eid Al Fitr holiday, pushing temperatures 4-6 degrees above their annual average, according to an official source .
The director of the Jordan Meteorological Department(JMD) Hussein Momani, explained that weather map analysis showed that a hot spell will prevail during the Eid Al Fitr holiday as temperatures are expected to soar above their thirties, bringing hot conditions across much of the country.
Mercury levels expected in Amman during the Eid holiday will reach a high of between 35-37 degrees Celsius, he said. Daytime temperatures in the desert and Eastern Badia, he added, will be 37 degrees to 40 degrees, while in the hilly areas they will be 31 to 33.
Meanwhile, mercury levels in the Jordan Valley and the Gulf of Aqaba will reach a maximum of 39 to 40 degrees, the JMD official said.
Public are advised to avoid direct sun exposure particularly around noon, drink lots of water and liquids to prevent dehydration, he said.
Momani also urged farmers to water their crops early in the morning before temperatures begin to rise and to reduce evaporation.
