U.S. actor Matthew Perry is set to star in, write and executive produce a TV re-imagining of "The Odd Couple," the Hollywood Reporter said. Danny Jacobson, known for his work on the sitcom "Mad About You," will co-executive produce and co-write the multi-camera comedy for CBS. The Neil Simon play has undergone several incarnations since it first debuted on Broadway in 1965, starring Walter Matthau and Art Carney as the slovenly Oscar Madison, and uptight Felix Ungar, respectively. Jack Klugman replaced Matthau as Madison for the 1968 feature film and sequel based on the play. Klugman later appeared in the ABC comedy based on the story. alongside Tony Randall as Ungar. Perry is slated to play Madison, though no other casting announcements have been made, The Hollywood Reporter said. "The Odd Couple" has received a script plus penalty commitment from CBS.
