Latvian world number 82 Anastasija Sevastova beat Eugenie Bouchard WTA Mallorca tournament on Wednesday.
Sevastova broke serve five times on the way to a 6-3, 6-3 victory over the eighth seed and former Wimbledon finalist. Bouchard has only been beyond the third round in two of the 13 tournaments she has played this year.
Sevastova advanced to the quarter-finals, where she will face Mariana Duque-Marino, who was a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 winner over Sabine Lisicki.
Elsewhere, Second seed Jelena Jankovic survived a first-set blowout before recovering to beat Belgian qualifier Elise Mertens 0-6, 6-4, 6-3, while another qualifier, Romania's Sorana Cirstea, defeated Daniela Hantuchova 6-3, 6-4.
