Nick Kyrgios has won his first match since Wimbledon to advance to the Atlanta Open quarter-finals with a rain-interrupted straight-sets victory over American Jared Donaldson.
Kyrgios, the second seed, progressed 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 and will face fifth-seeded Fernando Verdasco, a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Julien Benneteau.
Meanwhile, Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka beat fourth-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov of the Ukraine 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 to also advance. The 20-year-old Nishioka will face Argentina's Horacio Zeballos, a 6-1, 6-4 winner over Germany's Tobias Kamke.
